How botanical art is being used to confirm the provenance of a painting

A quick post as I dont feel it is possible to improve upon The Guardian's Dakya Alberge's excellent piece. Here is a fascinating article about how Leonardo da Vinci used botanical art in his work and how his well known committment to the accurate portayl of plants has meant that art historians and botanists are starting to doubt if he is the artist responisble for painting the London version of the 'Virgin of the Rocks: http://gu.com/p/442m5/stw
